K4 Teaching Assistant

As a K4 Teaching Assistant in Mrs. Davis’ class, I work with four and five-year-old students. I work with students in small-group learning centers, organized activities, and of course, we have play time. I wholeheartedly believe that patience, mutual respect, and gentle guidance is essential in a school environment because it supports the children in growing up to be admirable community members. In my work here at Indian Community School, the things I most cherish is getting to know the students individually, and as a whole. I learn something new from the students every day, I have witnessed the students of ICS show examples of the Sacred Gifts everywhere I look.

I am a descendant member of the Stockbridge-Munsee tribe and I am also Menominee and Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe. I am Turtle Clan. When I attended ICS, I attended Ojibwe class. Currently, I am learning the Menominee Native words of the week.

I attended the Indian Community School from K4 through 6th grade. I attended St. Gregory the Great for my 7th- and 8th-grade years. I attended Martin Luther High School and graduated in 2012. In 2014, I earned a Certified Nursing Assistant diploma through senior home care provider Visiting Angels. On occasion, I work in the Health Room here at ICS.

When I am not at work I enjoy spending time with family and friends including my cat Paisley, my German Shepherd dog Layla, and my best friend Jake. My biggest inspiration is definitely the students of the Indian Community School. They are so eager to learn, energetic, and made me feel truly welcomed and accepted as a part of this close-knit family.
