Hello, all of you! My name is Sofia Danforth, I am turtle clan and the people of the standing stone is the earth I come from.
I started at ICS as a staff member in 2021 but I have been part of the community since 2004! I am an alumni and I graduated in 2013. Since coming back to ICS, I’ve had the opportunity to continue to learn our language and teach it to the next generation of language learners and future teachers. It has been such a joy getting to know all the latiksaɂshúha and see them thrive and carry on our language and culture. It brings so much good energy, love, and feelings being able to give back to a community that has played a huge role in my life.
Outside of being an Oneida teacher, I spend all my time with my little family. My partner Ray and I have a 3-year-old daughter, Olivia- kawʌnakátsté̲Ɂ ne yutatyats (Her voice is enduring). We also have two fur babies Franky and Zion, pugs! I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, shopping, as well as cooking/baking!
