Every Day Matters in our Students’ Educational Journey

We have determined that consistent attendance is vital to student achievement, and have asked each of our families for their help in attaining it.

Research has shown that students who have consistent attendance at school, also experience the following:

  1. Academic Achievement
Each day at school provides valuable learning opportunities that enable students to grasp new concepts, build critical thinking skills, and strengthen their knowledge base.

  2. Social and Emotional Development
Consistent attendance allows students to form meaningful connections with peers and teachers, foster positive relationships, and develop a sense of belonging within our school community.

  3. Established Routines and Responsibilities
Consistent attendance establishes a routine that promotes positive skills, time management and personal responsibility.

To improve student attendance at Indian Community School, we have implemented several initiatives including:

  • Monthly attendance recognition for individual students who have excellent attendance records.

  • Weekly attendance recognition for classrooms with the best attendance.

  • Attendance recognition for school-wide attendance accomplishments.

  • A proactive approach to addressing attendance concerns, including consistent communication between parents, teachers, and the Student Attendance Advisory Committee (SAAC).

Working together, we address the barriers to consistent attendance in the best interest of our students and their families.
