Parent Engagement Specialist
Hesci – Hello, My name is Rachael Wichgers. I am Mvskoke and bird clan and my tribal town is Okfuskee. I am learning my Mvskoke language and traditions each and every day.
I am a mother of 9 children (7 girls and 2 boys). Their age ranges from 29 years to 6 years and my husband is an Army veteran. My journey at the Indian Community School began in 2011, when I enrolled my children into school. I started attending different programs like Play Group and joined the Parent Group. I loved volunteering at ICS, through many of the programs I attended, I was able to experience some of the things my children spoke so highly of.
It wasn’t long before I started working with the FAST program as a Parent Partner, and a little later, a door opened and I was able to join the Family Resource Team. Now I get to share my love and dedication to programs meant to support and empower families. I am the FRC Parent Engagement Specialist. There are many programs that FRC offers and Play and Learn, which is a class for birth to 4 years old as they grow and prepare for school. This is one of many programs that I have the pleasure of supporting, you, the parents and caregivers, because you are their most influential teachers. And as parents and caregivers, we can always use a little encouragement and support. I hope I get to know you and your family.
