A Message from our Head of School

Pōsōh, Boozhoo, Shekóli, Hainipi! – Hello!

Welcome to our 50th year of Indian Community School! From the humble beginnings of our Founding Mothers, to a truly one-of-a-kind learning experience and environment, we are dedicated to helping students build a strong cultural identity, while striving for academic excellence. This year, we continue to realize the dreams of all who have made our school possible. We have special activities, celebrations and gatherings planned throughout the year, so please come celebrate with us! The school calendar lists many of our upcoming events and you can also keep up by visiting our Facebook page (@ICSeduorg )and our website. We also encourage you to read the ICS newsletter to stay connected!

Once again, we are asking students to embrace the challenges before them. We want them to ask questions, take risks, be dedicated and have fun as they learn and grow. We all learn more from our struggles than from our successes and on the other side, we can find satisfaction, joy and appreciation. Please encourage your child to do their best and make sure they know that they are loved and supported.

Finally, we ask that you please help us with your continued support toward reading, attendance and living in a good way. Our students need to read every day because reading is essential for their social and academic success. Students also need to be at school every day because attendance is a baseline factor in determining student success. Each day, students are encouraged to demonstrate the Sacred Gifts of Bravery, Humility, Love, Honesty, Respect, Truth and Wisdom in all that they do.

Miigwech for the opportunity to serve your family,

Jason P. Dropik
