Indian Community School cultivates an enduring cultural identity and critical thinking by weaving indigenous teachings with a distinguished learning environment. HOW TO APPLY FOR A POSITION AT INDIAN COMMUNITY SCHOOL
Teachers and other Educational Professionals:
ICS’s educational professional positions will be posted on the Wisconsin Education Career Access Network (WECAN).  Click here to visit the WECAN website.

The Indian Community School of Milwaukee only accepts educational applications when an ICS position is posted on WECAN.  Applicants are required to use the WECAN site to complete an application and to attach necessary documents.  The documents include:

  • Cover letter
  • Resume
  • Evidence of current certification for the position posted
  • References/recommendations

ICS Teachers use a variety of instructional strategies and are required to have the knowledge and/or experience with Common Core State Standards, Differentiated Instruction, Response to Intervention processes (RtI), Formative, Summative and MAP assessments and data-based decision making.  Teachers are also required to incorporate technology and Native American culture, language, and traditions into the curriculum.  ICS utilizes the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Support) framework for student behavior management and class size is limited to 20 students.

Positions for Other Professionals: 

The Indian Community School employs various persons whose work supports the School.  Examples may include teaching assistants, clerical staff, facilities, food service, information technology, accounting/finance, etc.  In addition to their job assignments, all employee are required to also a mentor to one or more ICS students.
